Celebrate Heritage Week by connecting with fellow garden lovers! Bring along your spare plants, seeds, cuttings, tools, or garden books and swap them with others. It’s a great way to share local knowledge, promote biodiversity, and keep traditional gardening practices alive. Everyone welcome, whether you are a seasoned gardener or just getting started!

Monday 18th Aug from 10am – 11am: Fossil workshop for Kids (Age 6-10) – Location Visitor Centre Bunmahon – Booking is essential – BOOKED OUT

Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Discover what fossils are, how they form, and where to find them in Ireland. Hands-on activities where we will handle real and 3D-printed fossils, learn to identify common Irish specimens, and use magnifiers to examine samples for clues about Ireland’s ancient environments.

Thursday 21st Aug from 11am – 12.30pm – Mining Geoheritage Walking Tour – Meeting Point Visitor Centre Bunmahon (X42 T923)

Learn about 460 million years of Waterford’s heritage and a forgotten mining boom town. Beginning at the Copper Coast Geopark Visitor Centre in Bunmahon, a circa 1.5 – 2 hour guided walk to Tra Na Mbo, hunting for minerals and the ruains a 19th-century copper mining industry.

Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level.

Sunday 24th Aug form 11am – 12pm – Geological Walk – Meeting Point Annestown Beach Car Park

Guided walk exploring the unique geology of Annestown and its spectacular coastal cliffs. Led by geologist Robbie Galvin of the Copper Coast Geopark. A great chance to look at Annestown’s Geological, archeological and historical heritage from a new angle. Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are advised.
